根据ASCII的年终总结报告, PSP成为2010年日本最畅销主机, 同时也是日本2010年唯一销售数量相对2009年增长的主机. PSP在2010年共销售273万台, 比2009年增长60万台. PSP的竞争对手NDS在NDSI, NDSILL的共同出击下拿到销量榜第二位, 总共销售272万台, 可惜依然败于PSP. 不过虽然NDS的销量看似不错, 但是比2009年却有着惊人的100万台的滑落.

　　另外, WII凭借年末的爆发重新超越PS3成为日本家用机销量之王, XO全年只卖出了可怜的23万台, 完全没有任何存在感. 三大主机在2010年的销量相对2009年都有下降, 不过没有具体数据提供.

　　口袋妖怪和怪物猎人毫无疑问的成为NDS和PSP各自的软件销量之王, 分别售出473.4万套和316.4万套.

　　You could probably guess the two best-selling games in Japan this year: Pokemon Black and White and Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. The DS monster collecting adventure and the PSP monster murder adventure sold 4,734,064 and 3,163,750 units respectively, according to a year-end report by ASCII. Monster Hunter managed to finish in second place after less than one month of sales -- it was released on December 1.

　　It should come as no surprise, given the blockbuster status of those two, that the DS and PSP were the best-selling hardware platforms in Japan as well. The PSP was the only console to show growth in sales versus 2009, selling 600,000 more consoles than the previous year. 2,719,544 DS systems were sold in 2010, down a million from 2009.
